Punta del Faraglione

From Giglio Campese to Punta del Faraglione

Beautiful, easy walk with swimming opportunities

The trail from Campese beach to Faraglione along the coast is a beautiful panoramic walk with no major climbs and takes just over an hour (return). It leads from the largest beach on the island to the landmark of the bay, the Faraglione rock, and offers a wonderful view of the bay and the northern tip with the Fenaio lighthouse. The pebble beach at the end of the path is ideal for a swim.

Punta del Faraglione and Spiaggia dei Pozzarelli

The start of the path (1) is at the end of the beach, on the other side of the Medici Tower, after the La Miniera restaurant. The abandoned pier belonged to the pyrite mine, which was located on the site of the present residential complex. The pyrite was loaded from the jetty by means of a cableway, the pillars of which can still be seen in the sea.

After a short climb, the path winds through a small wood and after 250 metres reaches the beautiful beach of Pertuso (2). To the left, in the valley, path 324A climbs up to Mezzo Franco; our path, on the other side of the bay, climbs up steeply for a short stretch, which is made easier by a handrail. Continue along the coast through a very low holm oak wood (600m) and, after the junction with path 202A (3), follow the crest of the promontory for another 300m to the lookout point just before Faraglione (4).

For a refreshing swim, go back 300 metres and take the small descent on the right (3), path 302A, to the pebble beach of Spiaggia dei Pozzarelli.
