With the Crociere del Sole, the Maregiglio shipping company offers a range of day trips with different focuses: whether an excursion to the islands of Giglio and Giannutri on the elegant ship “Revenge” with lunch on board, a day trip to the island of Giannutri for nature and culture lovers accompanied by an official guide from the Tuscan Archipelago National Park with a hike in the fragrant Mediterranean maquis and a visit to the ancient Roman villa or an excursion to the island of Giglio to circumnavigate it by boat.

Mini-Cruise Giglio Giannutri

On board the elegant excursion ship MS Revenge, accompanied by a friendly and attentive crew, we set sail from Porto Santo Stefano towards the islands of Giglio and Giannutri. The short cruise includes two longer stays on the two islands and you can book guided tours for a hike and/or a visit to the Villa Romana on Giannutri and the medieval village of Giglio Castello. A delicious fish lunch on board is included.

Giannutri Hidden Treasures

A day amidst the unspoilt nature of Giannutri. Accompanied by an official park guide, you set off from Porto Santo Stefano to the island of Giannutri, the southernmost island of the Parco dell’Arcipelago Toscano and one of the most unspoilt. Once you arrive in the bay Cala Spalmatoio on the eastern side of the island, you disembark near a small beach where you can still see the remains of the ancient Roman harbour. From here, the guided hike starts in the protected park to the Capel Rosso lighthouse. After a lunch break, the Villa Domiziana, a luxurious Roman villa from the first half of the 2nd century AD at Cala Maestra, is visited in the afternoon. Then it’s back to Porto S. Stefano.

Snorkelling on Giglio Island

Experience an unforgettable day of snorkelling adventures in the unspoilt nature of the island of Giglio. At 21 km², Giglio is the second largest island in the Tuscan archipelago after Elba and is known above all for its unspoilt nature and crystal-clear water with its rich underwater world, a little paradise for diving and snorkelling enthusiasts.

The day trip is ideal for anyone who wants to explore the coast of the island of Giglio with its beautiful bays and beaches from the sea. The island tour in an inflatable boat takes you past secluded bays and the magnificent bay of Campese with its large beach, which is framed by a rock on one side and the Medici Tower on the other. The tour includes several bathing stops where you can discover the fish-rich underwater world while snorkelling in the company of a diving instructor.

Giannutri from Giglio Island

Are you on holiday on the island of Giglio and want to experience an unforgettable day and discover archaeological remains from Roman times?

Every Thursday from May to September, we offer a wonderful day trip from Giglio to the nearby island of Giannutri.

You can choose between two programmes, either a visit to the Roman villa or a snorkelling excursion. Those who choose to visit the Villa Romana will take part in a guided tour lasting around 50 minutes, accompanied by the official guides of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. After the tour, there is a longer free time on the island for swimming. Those who have opted for the snorkelling and trekking excursion will be accompanied by the tourist and environmental guides of “Le Orme” to swim together with an experienced snorkelling instructor in the most beautiful bays of the island and discover the fish-rich seabed with old shipwrecks.

When: from June to September, every Thursday
Duration: all day
Costs: Visit to Villa Roma: € 45 adults, € 28 reduced (5-12 years)
Snorkelling excursion: € 55 adults/young people (minimum age 14 years)

  • 10.30 a.m. – Departure from Giglio Porto by ferry Maregiglio
  • 11.30 a.m. – Arrival on the Island of Giannutri
    Visit of the Roman Villa (duration approx. 50 minutes) or snorkeling trip, then free time
  • 4:15 p.m. – Embarkation in Giannutri
  • 4:30 p.m. – Departure with the ferry Maregiglio
  • 5:30 p.m. – Return to Giglio Porto
  • The excursion is guaranteed for a minimum of 35 participants.
  • We reserve the right to cancel the excursion due to adverse weather conditions and for reasons of force majeure. In such a case, we will either refund the excursion or issue a voucher valid until 30 October, at the customer’s choice.
  • It is recommended to be at the meeting point at the quay at least 15 minutes before the departure time for embarkation operations.

In spring or autumn, we recommend that you bring a hat, a windproof jacket, a sweatshirt, comfortable shoes and sun cream.

In summer or when temperatures permit, we also recommend that you bring your swimsuit and a windproof jacket.

It is best to bring your own snorkelling equipment, even if you can hire this up to a certain number on board.

Please be considerate of nature and do not throw any rubbish into the sea.
