The island of Giglio is very easy to reach by ferry from the harbour town of Porto Santo Stefano on the Monte Argentario peninsula. Two ferry companies, Toremar and Maregiglio, offer several crossings a day all year round to the small harbour town of Giglio Porto on the east coast of the island. The crossing of around 18 kilometres takes just over an hour. There are no fast hydrofoil connections.

Ferry prices

Depending on the season, tickets for a one-way trip cost
– between €13 and €16 per person
– for a car under 4.50 metres in length €45 to €60.

For those who want to bring their car to the island, we recommend booking the ferry ticket in advance, especially if you travel on weekends, public holidays or during the high season. The same recommendation also applies to the return journeys of passengers on Sunday afternoons.

Vehicle restrictions

Please note that in the central weeks of August there is a restriction on taking vehicles onto the island if the vehicle has an Italian licence plate.  If you spend at least four nights on the island, you can take your vehicle with you, but you must fill out a “self-certification” form:

Note for passengers

Toremar strike on 21 July.

If the Toremar strike is confirmed on Sunday 21 July, only two trips from Giglio Porto at 9.10 am and 4.00 pm and two trips from Porto S. Stefano at 10.00 am and 5.30 pm would be guaranteed.
