Mappa Tragitto dei Traghetti per Giglio e Giannutri
Giglio Island is very easy to reach by ferries from the port town of Porto Santo Stefano on the Monte Argentario peninsula. Two shipping lines, Toremar and Maregiglio, offer several crossings per day with comfortable ferries all year round.

With just one hour of navigation, the approximately 15 kilometers that separate the island from the mainland are covered, reaching Giglio Porto on the east coast, the only port on the island of Giglio. There are no fast connections with hydrofoils.

For those who want to bring their car to the island, we recommend booking the ferry ticket in advance, especially if you travel on weekends, public holidays or during the high season. The same recommendation also applies to the return journeys of passengers on Sunday afternoons.

Tickets cost for a single journey is around  € 13 – € 16 per person and € 45 – € 60 for a car of less than 4.50 meters in length (low/high season). You can easily book the ferry tickets below.

In the central weeks of August there is a restriction on taking vehicles onto the island. This only applies to vehicles with an Italian license plate. If you stay on the island for at least four nights, you can take the vehicle with you, but you have to fill out a “self-certification”:
