Getting to Giglio
Isola del Giglio, Grosseto, Tuscany
Giglio Island is located in the southern corner of the Tuscan archipelago vis-a-vis of the peninsula Monte Argentario. Ferries to Giglio Porto crosso from the harbour Porto Santo Stefano (Monte Argentario), taking around 1 hour. The ferries operate in all weathers all-year-round.
From north, Pisa and Florence, drive to Grosseto. Take the bypass in the direction south (Rome) and follow the Via Aurelia till Albinia (around 34 km). Leave the motorway and follow the signs to Porto Santo Stefano (12 km).
From the south, Rome, take the Via Aurelia (till Civitavecchia motorway A12) to Orbetello, leave the Via Aurelia and follow the signs to Porto Santo Stefano (12 km).
Trains to and from Rome or Pisa take approximately two hours. The train station is called Orbetello - Monte Argentario from where buses run to Porto Santo Stefano.

The handiest airports for this stretch of Tuscan coast are Rome (Fiumicino or Ciampino) and Pisa (both around 150 km away from Giglio). Getting to Giglio from Pisa airport by train is a bit easier than from the Rome airports: take the "People Mover" train to Pisa Centrale, and then the train in direction Rome to the train station Orbetello - Monte Argentario. From Roma Fiumicinio Airport (Leonardo da Vinci) you can either take the regional train (direction Orte) to Trastevere and then a regional train to Pisa, or the direct train "Leonardo Express" to Termini Central Station. From there, both regional trains and Intercity go to Pisa. From Roma Ciampino airport you can either take a bus shuttle to Termini Central Stationor alternatively the local bus and metros.

Ferries to Giglio Island
Embarkation Porto Santo Stefano
The ferries to Giglio leave from the only pier in the small harbour of Porto Santo Stefano. If you take your car to the island you can park it directly in front of the embarking (orange P on the map below). The ticket offices of both companies, Maregiglio and Toremar are situated diagonally opposite of the pier on the other side of the street.

Long time parking
If you leave your car at Porto Santo Stefano there are a couple of private parkings for long time parking (you can not park for longer than 5 hours elsewhere).
